Cwmtawe Sub-Aqua Club

Cwmtawe Sub-Aqua Club is an affiliated branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), the UK’s governing body for divers and the largest diving club in the world.

Our local branch, number 659, was formed over 30 years ago in 1973, has trained hundreds of members to varying levels of diver grade and still maintains a strong membership.

Although based in Pontardawe, our members are from the general region of the Swansea Valley and meet regularly every Thursday evening at either of our two training venues depending on the time of year.

Our Winter training sessions are held at Pontardawe Swimming Pool between September and April and our Summer training sessions take place between April and September at the Upper Llliw Reservoir in Felindre, which provides an ideal training environment for all levels of diver with a maximum depth of 21 metres.

During the Summer months we also organise group dives at the weekend either to inland dive sites such as the National Diving and Activity Centre in Chepstow, or to offshore dive sites along the Gower and Pembrokeshire coast from our club RIB. Club trips abroad to areas such as the Red Sea are a common occurrence as are UK Dive trips which also continue throughout the rest of the year for the most adventurous members!
